Clubmark boost for Bungay CC

BUNGAY Cricket Club have received a huge boost in their continued development by achieving the ECB and Sport England Clubmark accreditation.

Clubmark is a cross-sport quality accreditation for clubs with junior sections and Bungay have joined over 500 cricket clubs in the country in achieving it.

The Clubmark status stands for higher standards of safety, fairness, coaching and management. It is a way the nation's sports club infrastructure will be safer, stronger and more successful.

For a club to achieve this status, it must prove it has high standards of child protection and safety, quality coaching, equal opportunities and good management. In essence, a club which qualifies for Clubmark is a well-run club.

Bungay CC see this as a way that parents can be assured that their children belong to a safer club.

Also, members can be sure their club is a well-managed club, striving to offer the best in coaching and sports development.

Club Welfare Officer, David Fuller, said: “This is the recognition of the hard work the club has put in over the last few years. We have become a club which is well managed, with excellent support and we see the Clubmark award as the first step in the development of becoming a major club in the area.”

Part of the reason for the accreditation is the club's thriving junior section. The club run training sessions for U10s, U11s, U13s and two U15 sides as well as Kwick Cricket for ages four to eight.

The club also works closely with local schools and sees this as an excellent way to promote cricket in the area.

You can here more about the Clubmark accreditation and what the club are trying to achieve at the Meet the Club evening, the second of which is taking place on Tuesday before the first junior training session at 6pm.
