Bungay Unveil New Sign & Logo

The Bungay & District Sports Association announced the next stage of their sports development at the Maltings Meadow last weekend with the unveiling of their new sign and logo. This recognised the £150,000 purchase of the 10 acre sports field which was a vital step on the road to the building of the new changing rooms and social area.

The unveiling of the sign was performed by Bungay Town Reeve, Diana Belcher, representing the Bungay Town Trust who originally started the project off with their £10,000 donation.

Diana Belcher said; “I am very pleased that this project is starting during my term of office. The Town Trust supports many local organisations and was very pleased to be able to give the initial impetus”.

The unveiling ceremony was also significant as it was the first time the new Bungay & District Association’s logo had been displayed. This logo, shown at the top left hand corner of the sign, was designed from the winning entry in the Association’s ‘Design-a-Logo’ competition promoted by the Beccles and Bungay Journal last summer. The winning entry was drawn by young Mark Phillipson, a pupil at Bungay Primary school, who is pictured with his prize of £50 in WH Smith vouchers presented to him by Jon Fuller, Chairman of the Association.

Mr. Fuller said; “Mark’s was the only entry that showed the river central to the design. It is very important that our new sports facility is open to every sector of our community. We are desperate to see people from both sides of the river Waveney enjoy the benefits sport can bring to our society”.The logo was designed by Nigel Beddingfield’s, Imajaz company in Bungay, and the sign was made and donated by Mr John Houchen from Black Dog Signs in Earsham.
